Students will also be introduced to their readers response log with a focus on inferring, predicting, visualizing, and summarizing.
Spelling- Unit 2 words will be assigned on SpellingCity.com. Please practice these words each night as the test will be on Friday.
Social Studies/Science- We will begin our first social studies unit on American Indians. Students will learn how and why American Indians began to migrate and the challenges they faced on this difficult journey. We will also discuss cultural similarities and differences between Native American tribes.
Writing- Students will be introduced to our first unit-Personal Narratives. Please work with your child to help them understand a few important times in their life in which they could write a narrative. We are also working on developing a stronger vocabulary in both speaking and writing. Encourage you child to use descriptive adjectives when writing or speaking. It is important to do more than to just recall events as they happen. We should be able to persuade an audience through word choice and vocabulary that they are reliving the moments with us.
